Bedingrade lies around six kilometres to the west of Essen city centre. It is a residential area of low to mid density, surrounded by greenery. Worth a special mention is the Hexbachtal, which lies on the boundary with Oberhausen and offers paths for walks. Denser residential development can be found on either side of Frintroper Straße, with allotment gardens to the north.
