The district of Aplerbeck lies around 6km to the south-east of the city centre, and is over 1,100 years old. The central focus and shopping area is Köln-Berliner Straße. Worth a visit is Haus Rodenberg, a moated castle dating from the Middle Ages. The northern part of Aplerbeck is a residential area with lots of greenery. Excellent links to the A1 and A45 motorways and to Dortmund airport. Good bus and underground rail links to Dortmund city centre.
